GRIPPING THE ROCK

GRIP THE ROCK WITH DOMINANT HAND

Rightee- right hand. Grasp rock with release hand.

Note the "golf" right hand grip.

"V" of thumb and forefinger points at nose.

The rock is at the 12:00 o'clock position for both turns.

The push the rock force traveling up the arm is the same for in- turn and out-turn. You only need learn "one delivery." Saves major "mind/muscle" training.

Fingers and thumb are wrapped around the handle--centered over rock center (bolt) and not against handle neck.

When you release the rock you apply the turn about the center of inertia.

Fig. 2.5 The rock is pushed to release in the 12:00 o'clock position!!!!!

The left hand grasps the rock with the thumb OVER TOP of the right hand thumb to facilitate removal and for implementing the turn and release.

Both hands push and control the rock up to the "left hand removal point." Women and children will find the use of two hands during the push-out a definite benefit to maintain alignment to the broom

The rock remains in the 12:00 o'clock position until release.

The physical and psychological effect of pushing out with the handle aligned with the brush is immeasurable.

Small children may find it convenient to grasp the handle with both hands instead of pointing small fingers down to the rock. The removal of the left hand at release is the same. As a matter of fact, it may be better to let the "little people" throw with two hands without worrying about the turn until lessons 20 --30.

Fig.2.6 THE SQUAT & AIM--- BOTH EYES AIM

Squat comfortably with feet apart about the same distance as when walking.

The rock is extended on the "line of sight" to the brush.

Never, never throw a rock with out a target.

The handle is "straight," at the 12:00 o'clock position.

Note the rock is precisely centered under the nose which is the center of aiming-between the eyes.

Fig. 2.7 The head is up--looking at the brush. Fig. 2.8

The shoulders are level and the body is square with the line of delivery.

THE ROCK IS NOT CENTERED ON CENTERLINE!!!!!!!!!!
