THE GENUFLECT DELIVERY

RAISING THE BODY AFTER INITIAL AIMING

The rock is pulled back from the extended (pre-aiming) position-- fig. 2.9

It is pulled back to one side of the toe directly under the nose.

The rock is pushed out as the body raises to the back level position.

The eyes remain glued on the brush line of sight.

For a draw shot, the slider leg remains stationary against the hack board.

You are now in the position demonstrated in fig. 2.9.

Both hands grip the rock.

The rock handle is aligned at the 12:00 o'clock position.

The back is at a comfortable height for initiation of the rock push out with the hands /arms first before the "drop" starts.

AGAIN, the rock is pushed out with the arms on the line of sight BEFORE the body starts the forward drop/slide out.

If you don't get this step right, all is lost for accurate aiming and sliding to the brush for the rest of your curling carrier!!

Fig. 2.9 The rock is started with the hands first with the body following.

Since the rock is coming out under the nose, the right foot is not at the center of the rock but a few inches to the right of rock center!

The rock is at least 6" left of the centerline (depending on body width) and is at the center of the body (directly under the nose).

STEP OUT BEHIND ROCK-beginner no slide delivery - rightee.

Beginners, take one step out from hack with right (dominant) foot.

The rock is ahead and picking up speed for the draw shot.

At full extension, 1 step only, you will release the left hand.

With the right hand, you rotate the rock about its axis imparting the right turn (in-turn) or left turn (out-turn).

Fig. 2.10 ADVANCED
SLIDERS --FULL EXTENSION both hands on rock.

If you are a beginner stepping out one step as in Fig.2.11, you have removed the left hand and are now ready to release the right hand with turn applied.

If you have advanced further with duct tape on your sneeker, you are now a "slider" and will still have both hands on the rock till you find your comfortable slide distance. I suggest no more than the house cross centerline for 50-100 lesson/practices. You will learn to slide to the far house in due time and with no more effort!

Your body is extended.

Fig. 2.11 Your chest is "resting" on the thigh.

You are riding on the slider foot and the knee slider.

Your toe is in line with the knee and parallel to the sheet.

YOU ARE "CRUISIN."
