wpe3.jpg (1611 bytes) HEAVY
A stone delivered with more momentum/weight than called for by the skip.

wpe4.jpg (2754 bytes)    HEAVY ICE / SLOW ICE
When ice friction conditions are at a level to cause a rock to traverse hogline to hogline in less than 13 seconds while stopping at the far "T"-line.

 wpe5.jpg (2107 bytes)  HERRINGBONE ICE
The marks on the ice whether visible or not visible made by the ice technician’s "ice shaving" machine when the blade is angled while shaving/preparing the ice surface. The "marks" have the same affect on a rock as angle mowing grass has on a golf ball.

The curler’s hand must be removed from the delivered stone before it clears the near hogline (Canadian rules) and is in-play if it clears/stops past the far hogline and does not touch the side boards/lines.

Or (hit) – the target point on or near an object rock that the center of the shooter would pass if the object rock was theoretically lifted vertically to allow the shooter to pass.
