| GLOSSARY cont. WICK AND ROLL
See tick: The shooter rock hits a small portion of an object rock such
that the shooter rolls/slides at a low angle to another place on the sheet.
WIDE
See TURNED OUT. A fault in the rock delivery sequence causing it
to traverse a line outside the brush target line of sight.
WIG WAG
The motion a curler may give a rock at delivery in which the rock is
partially rotated counter to the final release rotation. While it may give a certain flare
to the curlers style, I seriously doubt the benefit that may accrue. On the other
hand, release is second only to proper slide out on the delivery line of sight in
importance to hitting the brush, so any complication at this point can have serious
consequences on curler success.
WORLD CURLING ALLIANCE
An independent voluntary worldwide association of people that are
interested in promoting and improving all aspects to the game of curling.
WRECKED SHOT
See CRASH. Usually the unintentional striking of an object rock such
that it ruins the intended shot.
